The February Good List

Today I'm kicking off a little series called the “The Monthly Good List” where I'm able to round up all the things that I've loved, listened to, bought, eaten, etc. Hopefully it feels like time well spent - and feels exactly like what I would share with you if we were sitting down to talk face to face.

It was a full, yet bittersweet month for our family. On January 31st, we had to say goodbye to our dog Izzy. We were (are) still heartbroken, but adjusting to our new normal without her. Thankful for the sweet memories we had with her the past 15 years, and the wonderful things this part month that kept our hearts and lives full. Besides the regular routine of extracurricular activities, workouts, church + Bible Study/Sunday School, that included a family/company retirement party, welcoming new babies, coffee dates with friends, date nights, a school Art Fair, and the boys qualifying for the state competition in robotics!

In terms of my favorites for this month, here is the lineup:

  1. Active Skin Repair (get 10% off here). I’ve been working on replacing the medicine/treatment options we have at home for more natural, clean options and this is a staple. They make it in a spray and a gel, and it comes in kid/baby/adult versions, but it is all the same product, just different labeling but is safe for all ages! It is hypochlorus acid, which is the same molecule your white blood cells produce. It kills bacteria, viruses and fungus within 10 seconds and speeds up the natural healing process. It is anti-inflammatory, medical grade and FDA approved on open wounds and completely safe around the eyes, mouth, anywhere and completely natural and nontoxic. You use it on your cuts/wounds, big bites, rashes, sun burns, post treatment, as facial toner, to clean makeup brushes, diaper rash/cradle cap, postpartum/breastfeeding support, athlete’s foot, cold sores, and incredible for acne too! I use it almost every day and it WORKS!

  2. Headbands. I mean I love the big fabric headbands as much as the next girl (are those still in style? Kind of like those big bubble necklaces we all use to wear?!!) but these zig zag headbands are wonderful for no wash hair days and getting your hair out of your face. Super cute and comes in a two pack for under 10 dollars.

  3. Reading. I somehow read through 4 books this past month. Holy Hygge, The Christmas Tree Farm (part of a series of what I’d call a spicy Hallmark story), the 40 Day Sugar Fast (which I try to do every year) and What Do We Do About Sunday School? as part of my role as Sunday School Director. The boys love their Action Bible and Berenstain Bears devotional. Both of those are great and make for fun gifts too.

  4. Colorful (cheap) sneakers. These come in a ton of colors and are under twenty bucks. Around this time, I always crave a pop of color in my otherwise neutral wardrobe and these are super fun! Pair ‘em with insoles if you plan to wear them for long periods!

  5. The best workout leggings. The CRZ Yoga brand is a legit dupe for Lululemon, and at a fraction of the cost. I’ve worn their leggings for quite some time and they wash and hold up well. They recently released a butterlift fabric that, as the name implies, is buttery soft, but also has come nice compression in it. This style is my new fave!

  6. Handwriting line stamp. This is an awesome tool to help your kids as they work on their writing. We use ours at home all the time to work on spelling words, and rolling the lines makes the “homework” a little more fun!

  7. Five Crowns card game. We’ve been playing this card game as a family and all love it! It’s like Phase 10, but doesn’t take nearly as long. My 6 and 9 year old enjoy it and get the gist! Perfect to grab for any upcoming spring break trips (along with grabbing some Playaway audiobooks from your library- perfect so everyone can gran some headphones and listen to a good book, and Mom & Dad can listen to their own podcast, a win win!)

  8. Skout Organic bars. These bars are legit. All organic, clean ingredients (5 or less) and amazing flavors. I grab the kid bars for snacks and school lunches (and as a little post dinner treat), and the larger protein bars I grab for on the go. They don’t make a mess and crumble and are nice and chewy and so flavorful. You can buy single flavors or a variety box to see what you like best. Get 20% off with STYLEFILESVALERIE20.
