What I’m Packing in My Kids’ Lunchboxes This Year

I literally cannot believe the school year has already started. Summer was full, fun and just SO good. Alas, time for a new season…and a new post featuring back to school lunch must haves! Here are some of my favorite products for fun and easy, nourishing lunches for the kids!

So as for what products I am reaching for as I create my back to school routine? My workout and work-from-home life is almost always some good workout gear (without the crazy price), these longline sports bras, and a simple personalized necklace to finish it off. Oh, and my favorite devotional, a protein iced coffee (ValerieP for 10% off) and the best, refillable clean candle. Literally all of these, every day.

Let’s get to it!

what to pack for lunch, stainless steel containers, apples and cookie dough hummus

Always throwing in mess-free, delish and healthy options like these Skout Bars that come in a TON of flavors. Shop here for 20% off or use code STYLEFILESVALERIE.

Silicone storage bags
Instead of using Bento boxes, I like to use these bags and the containers I mention below and throw them in their lunch box. Gives me a lot more freedom and flexibility in packing a variety of things! These are great and the seal works well for everything from sandwiches to crackers, fruit, etc.

Stainless steel water bottle
Ditch the plastic and invest in a stainless steel water bottle. We’ve had great luck with these and they hold plenty of water without being as massive as those huge Hydrojugs or Stanley vessels. They clean up well too. Our teacher also recommended these silicone sleeves for the bottom, and that has helped them remain dent-free if they get knocked off their desk.

Snack containers
These are stainless steel and have silicone lids with a leak proof seal. They are a great size and hold a nice serving of fruits or veggies. (Speaking of veggies, I like to use this tool to cut them and make them more appealing, or let my budding chef help prep with this knife.) Need to pack a sauce or dressing like ranch, or even a serving of nuts? These smaller counterparts are the perfect size.

2 compartment snack containers
These are our most recent addition and my favorite. I pack these for their snack time, or even as an after school snack (pictured above with cookie dough hummus and apple slices!) The seal is great, and I love it is stainless steel with the silicone lid. Perfect for a bigger snack and fun to make tasty combinations like veggies and hummus, or completely separate ones since there are two separated compartments.

Back-to-school season doesn’t have to mean plastic-wrapped snacks or sugar-filled treats. With just a few reusable tools, packing nourishing lunches becomes simple and sustainable. Wishing you and your kids a healthy, happy school year!

PS- Looking for a devotional for your kids? We love to read this one geared for older boys, and this Berenstain Bears one at night. SO good!
